Swamping occurs when there’s too much liquid in your coil. In this situation, the coil behaves like an immersion heater. Vapor bubbles form directly at the coil but are absorbed by the surrounding liquid before escaping. This gradually heats all the liquid in the tank. Only when the liquid nears its boiling point does vapor escape properly.

How to Avoid: Don’t overfill your tank and ensure your device is properly calibrated for your liquid and coil type.

Stalling happens when the airflow is too weak to remove vapor from the coil efficiently. This trapped vapor prevents cooler liquid from reaching the coil. As a result, the coil heats excessively, increasing pressure and hindering the flow of liquid from the tank to the wick. When the trapped vapor dissipates, the liquid finally hits the overheated coil, leading to a dry puff.

How to Avoid: Ensure proper airflow settings and avoid taking weak puffs, as these can disrupt the vapor-liquid balance.

A dry puff occurs when the coil isn’t receiving enough liquid to cool down. This can happen if the tank is empty, the power setting is too high, or the wicking system isn’t keeping up with the heat. Initially, you’ll notice hot, unpleasant vapor, followed by an acrid taste that is far worse than smoking.
